Outdoor Show
Breaks Attendance Records! March 23nd, 1998 Halifax, N.S. - Nearly 27,000 people attended the Atlantic Outdoor Sports and R. V. Show in Halifax last weekend. The attendance figures were the highest in the15-year history of the event. There was something for everyone, from log rolling and rock climbing demonstrations to an unique exhibit of North American wildlife. And of course, there were the dozens of commercial exhibits and booths ranging from development and conservation groups, adventure tour companies and R.V. dealers to dog breeders, canoe manufacturers and campground owners. Well-known kayaker and author, Scott Cunningham of Coastal Adventures in Tangiers, Nova Scotia suggested the outdoor show is an opportunity to make industry contacts, but explained it is often difficult to access the value of trade shows in straight monetary terms. Several other show exhibitors held similar points of view. Don Trask, of Cumberland Canoes in Amherst, Nova Scotia was more upbeat about the event. Mr. Trask noted that his company does very little advertising and promotion, but finds the Halifax and Moncton outdoor shows are important marketing tools, that result in real sales for his company. Frank Davies, of Holiday Haven Campground in Kingston, Nova Scotia called the event "a great show" and welcomed the opportunity the show provided, to actually talk to people face-to-face about his 57 acre establishment.
